May 30, 2025. W.E. Upjohn Peony Garden. Bed sites 1-1AB When the blooms have few or no crown petals, the stamens and carpels are well exposed. The cherry red stigmas atop yellow-green carpels add a bright note of color to the blooms.

June 5, 2019. W.E. Upjohn Peony Garden. Bed sites 1-1AB It isn't uncommon to see blooms with few or even no crown petals or petaloids, i.e. the blooms are more semi-double or even single form.
