From Wills cigarette cards, Roses – a series of 40 cards. Issued in 1936. No 21 MARGARET McGREDY (Hybrid Tea) Introduced 1927 Orange-scarlet. A fine variety for bedding or growing as a specimen bush. The habit of growth is vigorous and upright. The blooms are large and well-formed, but liable to fade a little in hot sun. Fragrant. It should be pruned moderately the third week in March to about four eyes and, as it throws up a number of shoots, they should be thinned and only about seven or eight allowed to mature on each tree. It is a good variety for growing as a Standard on the Briar stock. Awarded a Gold Medal of the National Rose Society.
