Don Sheppard. Final Analysis 1982-83
Kapai. McGredy 1977 ('Madame Bollenger' x 'Tombola)' 7.4 rating. This medium growing to low orange-red fragrant floribunda met with a rather mixed reception from early reports. Most appreciated the bright small double blooms and quick repeat. but some felt the actual bush was rather suspect - slow to take off or a weak grower. However latest reports speak highly of its early flowering bright colour, repeat and the good compact bush. Excessive heat made the blooms droop. One or two say the blooms are untidy. The bush is healthy but in hot dry summers red spider is partial to it. A good bright floribunda rose suitable for bedding and general garden display.

Canterbury Rose Society, 1979. Symposium on Floribunda Roses.
Kapai One report states it is a sturdy bush, has healthy foliage not damaged by sprays. The flowers have an attractive colour, vibrant orange which is still pleasing even faded. Florets last well on the bush, drop cleanly and come in small to medium heads. It can take rust.

Kapai Tangerine. 11 reports. 1 year. 100cm. 6.9 rating. Taupo: Good little repeat-flowering rose, a garden "must" if only for colour. New Plymouth: First to flower. The most prolific rose I know. Spoiled by odd flowers. Blackspots badly. Dunedin: Flowers quick to repeat. Fleeting.
