A rose I like is Miriam with its lovely well-formed centre and it is great for small vases.

Nola Simpson. Final Analysis 1997-98. Floribundas.
Miriam (MACsupcat); McGredy 1990; 'Sexy Rexy' x 'Yabadabadoo'; yellow edged pinky red; 35 reports on 49 plants; 1.2 metres; 6.8 rating. Reporters never really cottoned on to this one mainly because it is very variable in performance and a real slave to downy mildew, difficult to establish and the flowers fade badly in the sun. Sometimes it looks pretty with its large heads of small HT type flowers that vary from deep yellow to paler tones with a pink to red edging on the petals. It seem to do best in the north of the country. Repeat of flowers is slow; those who have perservered are being rewarded with a better performance, but in general it has been a bitter disappointment and not worth growing.

Nola Simpson. Review of Newer Roses for 1995-96 Season. Floribundas.
Miriam (MACsupcat); McGredy 1990; 'Sexy Rexy' x 'Yabadabadoo'; yellow edged red; 12 reports on 15 bushes; I-4 years; 1.5 metres; 7.0 rating. It has picked up a bit this year, those that have perservered are being rewarded with nice flowers. Health is very suspect particularly downy mildew, Dannevirke has problems with black spot and says the colour is wishy washy. Waikato is finding it is improving with age and gets nice blooms for button holes. North Harbour thinks it is similar to 'Fruite' but inferior health. Both North and West Otago like the colour and Marlborough says it makes a good display rose.

p92 Nola Simpson. Review of Newer Roses for 1994-95 Season. Floribundas.
Miriam (MACsupcat); McGredy 1990; 'Sexy Rexy' x 'Yabadabadoo'; yellow edged red; 5 reports on 5 bushes; 2-3 years; 1.1 metres; 7.1 rating. The reports have dropped this year and most reports are luke warm in favour. South Canterbury likes it when it flowers but repeat is slow. Canterbury thinks colour is insipid and fades fast. Manawatu finds it slow to get going and has only just started to perform. North Otago says colour lovely, neat compact bush and healthy.

Nola Simpson. Review of Newer Roses for 1993-94 Season.
Miriam (MACsupcat); McGredy 1990; 'Sexy Rexy' x 'Yabadabadoo'; yellow edged red; 10 reports on 13 bushes; 1-3 years; 1.1 metres; 7.0 rating. The ratings have improved a little this year due to mproved performance in both Canterbury and South Canterbury, with no disease. North Otago finds the colour of the blooms good, compact bush which is healthy, and there is some fragrance. Waikato calls it a little buttonhole rose, pretty tiny HT blooms. Napier likes the two-tone blooms, but finds repeat rather slow. Northland has discarded. One Canterbury grower finds downy mildew a problem at times and the blooms ball up in the rain.

p102 Nola Simpson. Review of Newer Roses for 1992-93 Season. Floribundas.
Miriam (MACsupcat); McGredy 1990; 'Sexy Rexy' x 'Yabadabadoo'; yellow edged red; 8 reports on 16 bushes; 1-3 years; 1 metre; 6.4 rating. The rating has picked up a bit this year mainly due to a Franklin grower who has become quite fond of it. The others are not so impressed as it is very prone to downy mildew in most areas, difficult to establish and flowers fade badly in the sun. Sometimes it looks pretty but not as a general rule. It makes large heads of small HT type flowers that vary from deep yellow to paler tones with pink to red edging to the petals, each flower is pickable. Seems to do best in the north of the country.
