Origin:

Bred by Jean-Pierre Vibert (France, 1821).

Class:

Gallica / Provins.

Bloom:

Light purple to light pink, lilac edges. Purple-pink when expanding. Strong fragrance. Large, full (26-40 petals), in small clusters, button-eye, flat, quartered bloom form. Once-blooming spring or summer. Small, glandular sepals, rounded buds.

Habit:

Medium, upright. Light green foliage.

Height: 39" to 5' (100 to 150cm). Width: up to 3' (up to 90cm).

Growing:

USDA zone 4b through 8b. Disease susceptibility: very disease resistant. Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood.. Prune after flowering is finished.

Mike Lowe of Lowe's Roses says the flowers are soft mauve-pink with paler outer petals, large, double, and swirled into irregular quarters... also, this rose flowers later than most other Gallicas...
