After growing Golden Gate for 2 1/2 years, I have to rate this as one of the best climbers I have ever grown. Disease free with no spray, very floriferous, early repeat, quite self cleaning, really vigourous (12+ ft in this time), really vibrant yellow, very cheerful. Not too difficult to train, although the stems would be classed as fairly stiff. Very good rain resistance. I have grown around maybe 40 different climbers, and this is one of the best.

I believe the comment is intended for the large-flowered climber, KORgolgat, Kordes' *other* Golden Gate rose: https://www.helpmefind.com/rose/l.php?l=2.39721 (Good info to know though! Thanks.)

Indeed, you are correct. My error. This listing is for the Florist's rose by the same name and same breeder. I therefore delted the post - thank you for letting me know.

The parentage on this rose appears to be incorrectly listed in this entry. The Postillon x seedling looks to be related to the other rose that Kordes put out recently named Golden Gate -- KORgolgat -- not this florist rose KORrogilo.

Yeah, Kordes went on a naming replica spree and confused all sorts of newer roses.

Bought this rose a year ago as a baby bare-root and while it was badly affected by mildew last season, I kept it as it it is supposed to be so prolific and because I love roses that hold their form for days and open slowly. I also love the great bloom form and the rich, strong yellow colour which fades after a couple of days in the sun, but, if cut, which this rose was bred for (being a "cut-flower"/florist variety) lasts for days indoors. In it's second season now, it's had it's first spring flush and is now putting out a couple of new canes from the bud union, so it will be interesting to see how tall it gets. I saw on the Kordes website, I think it was, that this variety can produce up to 300 flowers per year, per square metre, which is pretty amazing! It looks like it will need a fair bit of attention to keep the mildew and BS at bay (which is probably why the main supplier of this rose here in Australia no longer stocks it, after just a few years), but it could be well worth it, if it keeps churning out these beautiful flowers.
