Eos Spx. o/f/2 Ruys, 1950. [Provenance Hortico]. Akin to the two Eddie's varieties, and also a seedling of Rosa moyesii, with the same elegant arching habit in a plant of under 8'. The flowers are bright rose-red with a striking white eye and soft yellow stamens. Rarely sets hips.

Eos Modern Shrub. Description... 'Eos' seems to be variable in color. Its name, honoring the goddess of the dawn, is thought justified in Britain by the coral colors of its flowers, but in warmer climates the smallish semi-double blooms are usually a more ordinary crimson. Eos This is a hybrid. R. moyesii x 'Magnifica', the latter being a self-sown seedling of the Sweet Brier 'Lucy Ashton'. It bears flat, almost single flowers of coral-red along its branches, providing a brilliant effect.The growth is rather gaunt and bare at the base. Height 12 ft. There is rarely any fruit. Bred by Ruys (U.S.A.), introduced 1950.

Eos is a semi-double deep red-maroon and does not set hips. Its flowers are small in comparison to others of the [moyesii] group but it makes up for this with vigorous growth and heavy flowering.
