.....The rose that carries her [Patricia Neal] name, a bright cerise, high-centred HT was named for her after she had put on a magnificent performance in a much neglected film, The Subject Was Roses. "I was in New York at the time", she remembers, "and they sent me an enormous bunch of them. I thought they were extremely nice, but not in any way exceptional." Time passed, and then one day Patricia Neal tried to get some plants of the variety for her garden - but it had never gone into commerce in England where her home now is - and seems to have slipped away in America.
