...Quinto Mansuino was especially enamored of both 'White Lady Banks' and lutescens. At age 70 he used the latter to breed 'The Pearl' in 1960 and 'Purezza' (Purity) in 1961. 'Purezza' accomplished his goal of creating a recurrently blooming banksiae hybrid. It won the Rome Gold Medal.

'Purezza'  (Mansuino, 1961)    This hybrid is more widely grown than 'Ibrido di Castell' and is in flower for many months in the year.    It was an early by-product of Mansuino's work with Rosa banksiae.    The flowers are pure white, 3.5 - 4.0 cm across,  loosely petalled, and less double than 'Ibrido di Castello'.    They come in rather crowded clusters unlike, for example, the more widely spaced clusters of 'Fortuneana'.

Purezza.  Syns Rosa banksiae The Pearl’,  ‘Purezza.  Modern, rambler,  white.  repeat-flowering.
Large clusters of very small, double, white blooms are borne on this thornless rambling variety.   They are fragrant and appear with good continuity from summer to autumn.  ‘Purezza’ is an extremely vigorous grower with healthy leathery foliage.   Zones 6-10.  Mansuino, Italy, 1961.  ‘Tom Thumb’ x Rosa banksiae lutescens.  Rome Gold Medal 1960.

At the garden of Bruno Goris - L’Oustaou Dei Bailea, France.
One (rose) though, cannot be missed out;  new to me, it is a later-flowering hybrid of R. banksiae named ‘Purezza’ raised by Italian breeder Mansiuno.  it is white, large-flowered and very vigorous - another rose that Bruno has promised to send to me to try out in England.

R. banksia purezza.  Breeding:  R. banksia alba plena x ‘Tom Thumb’.  This is a lovely double, white continuous flowering hybrid, about which I can find out little.  It comes from Italy possibly hybridised by Mansuino but as the Italians have little rose history and do not keep records this is not for sure.  It flowers magnificently in Dr. Fineschi’s private rose garden at Cavriglea, which is the largest private rose garden  in the world.  I have it growing and flowering on a warm brick chimney and treasure it greatly.  Size 6 x 3m.
