There may be some confusion about three roses, two named 'Habitat for Humanity' and one 'Habitat for Humanity Rose'. I may be wrong, but I believe this entry is for the 2002 'Habitat for Humanity' red hybrid tea. It was introduced by J&P in 2002, along with 'Cesar E. Chavez', to celebrate a cause by donating 10% of net sales to, respectively, Habitat for Humanity and to support farmworkers.

I bought a rose tagged 'Passionate' in a pot with gorgeous velvety red blooms that I just had to have probably around 2002. It has done very well and when I moved it, noticed that it had developed it's own roots. However, I can't find much about this rose. I don't know why it is also posted as 'Habitat for Humanity' when there's already roses named that that's totaly different color and class.
The only problem with this rose is that the blooms burn badly in full sun. The blooms still stay true to form for days and days on the bush even after turning color due to the burn.
