What I have called Leontine Gervais for over 20 years I am now changing to Auguste Gervais after seeing the same rose with similar provenance in Patricia Routley's garden

Judy, just because you saw it in my garden doesn’t automatically make it correctly identified. (We are all fallible and often get things wrong in our search for truth). You have to do your own research and be happy in your mind that it is correctly identified. I hope you looked at those references.
It was wonderful to talk roses with a rosarian and I enjoyed your visit very much indeed. People who are truly interested in old roses are always welcome here.

I have had a search of the literature and the references are confirming that size of the bloom is a way to distinguish these two roses. - Patricia

Leontine Gervais
1911 “small in size”
1936 5cm
1967 “two inches”

Auguste Gervais
1919 “four to five inches”
1936 10-12 cm.
