The buds in the photos of the May 19th pic make me think this is a product descending from the mauve rambler types. Hybrids with these and roses like 'Baby Faurax' tend to make these types of intricate, yet voluminous, crepe-paper type buds. See 'Escapade' for a good example.


Most true mauve (not purple) roses are bred from climbing ports of mauve roses. This one looks like it would be far more interesting, and possibly healthier, to grow.

The height is apparently much more than 30" - it's supposed to be a tall climber - 2m/2.50m - 6'/8'.
