Introduced in United Kingdom by Thomas Rivers & Son Ltd around 1835. Vibiand-Morel claims in 1915 that 'Manetti' is a seedling of 'Rosier de l'Ile Bourbon', bred by Bertin. The Peter Beales Collection of Classic Roses 2000-2001 says this rose was commonly used as an understock in the 19th century, especially in the U.S.A. Mae Fair, who passed away in 1904 at the age of 24, is a truly appropriate namesake for this lovely rose. Source: Mae Fair Pink]
