Bloom:
Cream. None to mild fragrance. Average diameter 4.5". Large, double (17-25 petals), cluster-flowered, in small clusters bloom form.
Habit:
Tall, climbing. Large, glossy, medium green foliage.
Height: 20' (610cm).
Growing:
Can be used for garden or pillar.
Breeder's notes:
Profuse winter/spring bloom, intermittant thereafter.
We felt that it was appropriate, since we had named one of our climbing gigantea hybrids in honour of Sir George Watt, to name another one after the discoverer of the same species- R. gigantea, in the nearby Shan Hills of Burma, around the same period- the 1880’s. So we have named a beautiful large, fully double cream flowered climber in honour of Sir Henry Collett.
General Sir Henry Collett (1836-1901) who commanded a brigade of the British Indian Army, made extensive botanical explorations in Burma, and found many interesting plant novelties. He sent specimens of R.gigantea to Monsieur Crepin in Belgium for identification.
