Origin:

Bred by Jean Desprez (France, 1841).
Introduced in France by Pierre Cochet (père) in 1842 as 'Baronne Prévost'.
Introduced in Australia by Camden Park in 1850 as 'Baronne Prévost'.

Class:

Damask Perpetual, Hybrid Perpetual.

Bloom:

Pink, lilac shading. Strong, damask fragrance. Average diameter 6". Large, full (26-40 petals), in small clusters, button-eye, flat bloom form. Spring or summer flush with scattered later bloom.

Habit:

Armed with thorns / prickles. Wavy or ruffled foliage. 7 leaflets.

Height: 39" to 5' (100 to 150cm). Width: 3' to 5' (90 to 150cm).

Growing:

USDA zone 4b and warmer. Very hardy. a good subject for pegging. Blooms tend to ball in wet weather. Disease susceptibility: susceptible to blackspot .

Dedicated to Caroline Victoire Susanne Guenoux (1804 Paris - April 29, 1868 Paris), daughter of the notary Joseph-Charles Genoux and Marie Victoire Daumy (see the Rose 'Victoire Daumy') and sister of Eugène Genoux (see Breeders). She married Achille-Félicité Prevost (1782- March 3, 1855 Voisenon), secretary of the cabinet du roi, on September 27, 1823 in Paris. Her husband received the title of Baron by royal ordonance on on April 24, 1824.
