Alexander MacKenzie. Medium red. 40-50 [petals]. 48". Intermittent.
An Explorer rose. A kordesii hybrid. Extremely elegant, upright growth that arches over. Clusters of raspberry-scented cup-shaped flowers just under 3 inches (7.5 cm) across with a yellowish tinge at their base. Shiny, almost waxy, foliage matures from red tint to glossy light to mid green. Fairly disease resistant. Very good cane hardiness (zone 3).

From open pollination of 'Red Dawn x Suzanne' I selected D07 and D08. D07 was not remarkable in itself but the offspring from open pollination, D15 and D25, were excellent parents. D15 produced 'A. Mackenzie'.
