The flowers of ‘Alba Suaveolens’ are an intermediate between the flowers of ‘Alba Maxima’ and ‘Alba Semiplena’ in terms of the number of petals. It often has 25-35 petals which are divided into 12-17 large outer petals and 13-17 smaller petals towards the centre of the flower. In addition, the flowering shoots can form slightly more blooms and the variety often forms slightly more rose hips than ‘Alba Maxima’.

Rosa villosa 'Huldra' ....a spontaneous hybrid which originated in Evert Nilsson's nursery in Ǻs, Jämtland. ...Known in Swedish culture sinde de 1950s or 1960s....In his book Välkommen i min Lustgård (2007) Evert Nilsson states that "Huldra" is a hybrid between 'Poppius' and Rosa rubiginosa... The DNA study of Pom shows that"Huldra" has other parents than what Evert Nilsson stated.....Pom's DNA study shows that the seed parent of "Huldra" is Rosa villosa,...  "Hurdal" or another variety which is closely related to Rosa villosa. A variety in the Spinosissima-Group, probably with light or white blooms, is in all probability the pollen parent.

'Örträsk' ...The variety has been known since the 1940s when it was grown in the village of Örträsk, Lycksele municipality. It may well be a spontaneous hybrid which happened in Örträsk. One parent is probably Rosa majalis, the cinnamon rose, the other Rosa rugosa, the hedgehog rose, or, more likely, a variety in the Rugosa group, possibly 'Hansa'.

The DNA-Profile was prepared by Pom [Swedish Programme for Plant Diversity]. According to the dendograms ‘Persiana’ is genetically identical with Rosa foetida, the yellow Turkish rose. Their similarity index is 100%. Only one or possibly several mutations separate them from each other. It is only the number of petals that morphologically distinguishes the two varieties from each other.
