December 2019. Blackheath NSW, Australia. First year planted bareroot in very acidic soil (pH 4.5) with a little lime my 3 LoS plants are very healthy and pumping out a succession of flower clusters, despite the drought and hot early summer. Leaves have tiny brown spots so possibly a bit deficient in something from the acidity. The flowers glow in afternoon light- very bright at first but then mellow to a more refined peach. Has a lovely (myrrh?) scent that is more apparent in the evening to me. I only wish the plant was a bit more compact but hopefully it will mature to a better shape. I have planted 3 next to each other in the hope that they will support each other - but perhaps she will be a good subject for pegging?

I have very acidic sandy soil (4.5). I have added some lime but Jude the Obscure actually seems to tolerate it better than some of my other roses so far. Scent knocks your socks off - something like lychees and white wine- very delicious. December 2019, Blackheath, NSW, Australia.
