Hi rose grower. I'm sorry, I goofed; I said Sprint 333 when I meant Sprint 330. Sprint 330 is a Iron Chelate Micronutrient (10% Chelated Iron) that is used to green up the foliage, it is also used for the correction of an iron deficiency in slightly acid or alkaline soils.

"Response" is a concentration of Red Australian Kelp. I think "Response" really brings out the very best in my rose(s) leaves; they are more lush and seem to have better color. I would suggest that If you use "Response" use it early in the morning-- "Response" is a micro-nutrient supplement and is not intended for use as plant food. In place of "Response" you could always use a plain liquid seaweed or kelp emulsion.

Keep them Roses growing-- Bill

I had 4 Iceberg roses in the shade, z6a, Toronto - only 2 survived, in the most sunny place (70% shade) with less tree root competition. First year they had a lot of powdery mildew, the second year - only some minor black spot. While they flower all summer, flowers are few and fast passing.Planted in initially same place, other roses had better results in shade - Chuckles, Pink Flower Carpet, unknown dark red tea rose.

Thank you for all the information regarding your experiences  growing "Iceberg" in the shade. It looks like I'll be dropping "Iceberg" as one of my shade candidates and in it's place I'll add "Chuckles".   I'm still planning on planting  "Escapade"  an Harkness rose (1967).  I will also add "Wind Chimes" and "Bubble Bath", list of shade candidates, both are Hybrid Musks.

Don't give up on ICEBERG, I have the climber version running along our garage that really only gets about 2 hrs of sun here in the Silicon Valley. The foliage of course, is that 'powdery' sage color of light green. It is about 10ft high this year. I must admit that this Spring has been a great year for my roses! The best so far . . .

I haven't given up on 'Iceberg'. I planted two bushes in a shady spot (3 - 4 hours of sun) along with 3 bushes of 'Escapade', all are doing fine. Instead of buying bands; all were in gallon containers and close to being root bound. Except for an attack of Rose Rosette (RDD) about 11 plants, all is going great guns and it should be the best rose growing year I've seen in a long time.

Happy Rose Growing,
Bill Raimond

I've grown 'Salet', a Moss, for over three years and I can say without doubt that for a repeating Moss or a Perpetual Moss if you please, my plants have produced an awful lot of clear pink blossoms in the spring and again in the fall with a few wonderful blooms spread out in between (I feed heavily with organics). Admittedly the mossing is light, but the fragrance is wonderful and on the sweet side. The foliage is a bright green and suffers very little from black spot, I would say that less then 25 percent of the foliage is affected, and if you have a spray program, you should have little to no black spot (BS). Please note, I spray VERY little-- and when I do, its during the winter and then again in the spring and after that only when or if needed. I will use a light mixture of Phyton 27 as a drench (5.5 percent solution of copper). BS is not stranger in my garden; I have many plants that really suffer from this disease, however 'Salet' is not one of them. To make a long story short, I really would not be without this wonderful rose; 'Salet' will always have a place in my garden.
