From the front cover of Bobbink & Atkins 1936 catalogue 'Roses, Perennials, Shrubs and Evergreens'.
This is the same photograph that is in J. H. McFarland's 1937 'Roses of the World in Colour', but the Bobbink & Atkins image is not as cropped, so it shows more of the foliage, several thorns and a few stipules.

'Barcelona' from page 139 of the Wilhelm Pfitzer (Stuttgart) catalogue for 1938.
The description reads "Barcelona, (T.H.) (s. Abb.) Samtig dunkelrot mit schwarzroter Aderung, Rückseite der Blumenblätter karmin; dichtgefüllt, mit herrlichem Duft. Tee-Hybride mit den besten Eigenschaften einer Remontantrose -.70 Hochstämme 2-."
which translates to:
Barcelona, (H.T.) (see illustration) Velvety dark red with black-red veining, reverse of the petals carmine; densely double, with magnificent fragrance. A Hybrid Tea with the best characteristics of a Hybrid Perpetual -.70 Standards 2-.
