Origin:
Bred by Pedro (Pere) Dot (Spain, 1931).
Introduced in United States by Conard-Pyle (Star Roses) in 1933 as 'Catalònia'.
Introduced in France by Henri Guillot in 1934 as 'Catalònia'.
Introduced in Australia by Hazlewood Bros. Pty. Ltd. in 1935 as 'Catalònia'.
Class:
Pernetiana.  
Bloom:
Crimson or cardinal red, golden-yellow shading.  Moderate fragrance.  Medium to large, very double, borne mostly solitary, in small clusters, flat, globular bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  
Habit:
Bushy, well-branched.  Glossy, dark green foliage.  

Height: 4' to 5' (120 to 150cm).  Width: up to 4' (up to 120cm).
Growing:
USDA zone 7b through 10b.  Vigorous.  Disease susceptibility: susceptible to blackspot .  Requires spring freeze protection (see glossary - Spring freeze protection) .

Arena Rose Co.'s Catalog 2000 says Catalonia is an older Hybrid Tea by the Spanish hybridizer, Pedro Dot. It produces large blooms of salmon-apricot on long, straight stems...
