E. F. Allen.  Awards To New Rose Seedlings In Great Britain In 1973
Temple Bells (parentage not revealed). A prostrate, once-flowering, dwarf rambler submitted by D. Morey. It has splendid glossy foliage and many single white fragrant flowers, with conspicuous golden stamens in August and September. Without support it can be grown as a ground cover but can also be trained on a trellis to form a screen. It is virtually indistinguishable from a good form of R. luciae (syn. R. wichuralana luciae), which is cultivated elsewhere in the Trial Grounds and which originated from Bayfordbury. However, we have the assurance of both D. Morey and Sam McGredy that its hybrid origin is demonstrated by its breeding behaviour. Trial Ground Certificate.
