Re-commenting, I do find this one very tough to grow WELL as in performance. It is a beast----thorny, bolt upright, loves to throw basals............but somehow it is always a little "off" not unlike Kordes' Color Wonder and Kordes Perfecta for me............it blooms ahead or behind so I have yet to use it for hybridizing, the canes are thicker than the bloom a lot...........THIS year both the band and the budded (and at this point they are indecipherable) are blooming PEACH.................this year this one is giving me vegative centers a la Diamond Jubilee and I have found like Kordes Perfecta the ugliest mishapen bud results in the most gorgeous bloom whereas a lovely less hinky bud results in an ugly bloom...............it is a very "Kordes" rose!!!!! It gives me fits. Promises me so much and delivers just enough to keep me from not only allowing it to be one of only 2 "duplicates" in my collection (Gold Medal is the other, bought as a band and also "procured" via a mislabeled body bag Cherish and like IT, band and budded totally the same, both very strong) but from tossing it in general............

Growing this one own root and also budded......the plant is, as expected, bigger budded but the bloom size is surprisingly much larger own root with the own root plant shooting up 3 foot tall basals each topped with a 6 inch gorgeous star shaped bloom. Takes a long time to repeat both forms but is worth the wait...even in the extreme heat here in OH this year the blooms I have gotten have been show stoppers, the color very pale pink to cream. Crisp substance not withstanding, the blooms do spot with any inkling of moisture and although my plants have exhibited far above-average blackspot resistance, they are very very mildew prone. Bought these for hybridizing since they seem to carry the "crazy lavender" gene and in fact IT has been used extensively in the lavender-purple strains through Christiansen (Fragrant Plum, etc.)....ironically they took so long to give me their first bloom I could not use them this year but very glad to have this thorny beauty.....mildew and all...........one of the smell minority of roses that does not seem to have any inclination to cluster at all...........

Found this at a long gone local nursery. And what a find it's been.

Upright, hardy plant with soft color combos that alter somewhat depending upon weather. Most often cream with apricot in the center.Often splashed with some pink on the outer petals.Nicely fragrant and quite a shapely, fairly large flower.Lasts well on the bush or cut.

Deserves to be more widely grown.
