Was part of the Jackson & Perkins test roses in the mid-70's but J&P declined to introduce it although at the end of the test year they disclosed to growers that it was already released in Europe as 'Adolf Horstmann.' Edmunds is the one who seems to have released this in the US, early 80's. Foliage is gorgeous and petal substance is heavy and crisp. Lots of vegative centers.	REPLY

Edmunds sold it for eons. I never took it on, because it has the Golden Wave curse. Meaning, low light climates had a harsh, negative affect on it from March through mid-July.	REPLY

After the Spring bloom I'm lucky to get one bloom a month from it. I'm in the San Francisco Bay area, Calif. Does anyone else have the same problem? It gets plenty of water and fertilizer and I have had it for at least five years; it is healthy.	REPLY

Some Kordes roses stay healthy by secreting LESS acid at root-level, thus can't break down minerals in rock-hard clay for blooming. Such Kordes roses work well for high-acidic-rain climate, but become stingy in dry & hot climate. Other CA folks also mentioned Kordes roses being stingy. I have rock-hard clay & extremely alkaline tap-water, and Kordes Deep Purple rose gave me hell: stingy & wimpy, and I was so happy it died through my zone 5a winter.

I don't grow this rose, so have no personal experience with it. I have purchased a good number of roses from Edmond's and have found their descriptions to be spot on. Good luck	REPLY

You will find reference often offer slightly different descriptions. As any breeder will confirm, soil and climate can yield some significant variation in a plant's characteristics.

That's were a site like HelpMeFind can really be useful. If site guests with experience with a given plant would use the Q&C (questions and comments) tab found on each plant display to share their experience we would have a fantastic collection of real world results instead of just those from the more controlled environment of the breeder and nursery.

PLEASE consider sharing your experience with your roses with the HMF community. That's a big part of what this site is about.
