Opal Brunner PolCl (Fl.Cl)  rrr/ff/1  Marshall 1948.  [Provenance}: Huntington.  Small blooms with a musky fragrance.  light pink to salmon flowers with touches of yellow.  Grows much like Phyllis Bide.  Opal Brunner is classed as a Climbing Floribunda and we have been tempted at times to place it with the Hybrid Musks, with which it has much in common, but we have decided it belongs best with the Polyantha climbers.

Opal Brunner Marshall (California) c. 1948. Classed as a climbing Floribunda, this has the colouring of the Hybrid Musk 'Cornelia', slightly richer, but with smaller flowers and prettier buds.  Though certainly not a China Rose, it is mentioned here to keep the 'Brunner' varieties together; at the same time, as with 'Improved Cecile Brunner', I feel it is an insult to link it with that variety.  Parentage unknown

Opal Brunner The originator of this rose, Dr. A. C. Marshall, named it after his wife. It has shown me an everblooming climber with oceans of blooms extremely like Cecil Brunner so for a low climber and a lot of those dainty little buds for table decorations – the large shrub is very healthy and good looking. I believe that this rose has a very definite place.
