What a horrible name for a rose. More suggestions in the same vein:

Rosa 'Polished Concrete Slab'

'Swept Gravel Driveway'

'Steam-cleaned Alley Behind Gambling Den'

Etc. :P

Quite a number of German hybrid rugosas are marketed under the Pavement family name. I suppose it should have referred to them being good ground covers.

I think maybe it is a translation of the original name.

I had rather an awkward English name than the name changed to something else entirely. Maybe someone in Marketing thought Purple Groundcover would not be cute enough.

ARA MR are saying 'Pristine Pavement' 1990 white hybrid rugosa bred by Baum, has a synonym of 'White Perfection'.
HelpMeFind is showing a 'White Perfection' 1931 white hybrid rugosa bred by Auten.
Does anybody know the difference? Are there in fact, two separate roses?

The synonym 'White Perfection' is not in MR XI, but can be found in the CRL of 2006, too. So, the question is the source of the 1931 Auten rose, which seems to be only the label in the Doblhoff park. As Auten is actually a peony breeder, there is room for some doubt. I will contact someone in Austria who should know.
The other photos of Kajsa Sjödin and the nursery listings are surely of Baum's rose.
