I am going to come out SWINGING here in support of some "clunkers" from the 70's because as time as moved on, I am sorry, Yankee Doodle is pretty much a CLUNKER! And better? It somehow won AARS in an era when true exhibiton size and form defined "worthiness" despite the fact it basically looks like a zinnia. This is one where I truly believe someone in a position of control owed someone a favor because this is just a "not good rose" and it is, again, so ANTI 70's trend it makes no sense. ADOLPH HORSTMANN looks very much like this one's twin but is actually LESS likely to give 100% vegative centers. SUNSONG! THIS ROSE WAS PANNED, actually MOCKED! SUNSONG also looks like a zinnia! But it also blooms in HUGE pannicles and has a unique middle-orange color.........Yankee Doodle is not the WORST rose named AARS but it is in my opinion the absolute most UNLIKELY...........and it IS a BAD winner..........it just is..............oh APOLLO from 72 is a joke! But Apollo seemed/seems to have at least some small amount of some trait that made it somehow minimally relevant............no idea how a "zinnia" won AARS in the smack middle of exhibition crazed 70's and in a year when the name was MONEY.........there HAD to be something better?! What higher power did Kordes HAVE that year? And didn't KORDES have anything better to offer????????

It is grown in the Park of Roses in Columbus, OH (zone 5) so you should be fine.
