Specific Character. Rose with egg-shaped seed-buds and smooth peduncles; leaves ovate, pointed, smooth, with finely sawed edges, and prickly footstalks; spines of the branches stout, red, and recurved.
This Rose is the first variation from the wild species, considerably larger in flowers and leaves, with an addition of petals sufficient to constitute a semi-double flower. There is an abundant succession of delicate pale pinky-coloured blossoms. It is well calculated to ornament the trellis, cover a wall, or paling; as from the toughness of its branches it may be spread out in any direction. Our figure was made from a large plant trained against the west side of an old green-house at the Hammersmith Nursery.
