Nikolaus Ernst Bartholomäus Anhorn von Hartwiss (in Russian: Николай Андреевич Гартвис - Nikolaj Andreevič Gartvis) (May 24, 1793 Kokenhof near Wolmar in Livonia [today: Valmiera in Latvia] - December 6 [November 24 of the Julian calender], 1860) 2nd Director of the Nikita Botanical Garden in Yalta, Crimea, from 1824 (other date: March 8, 1827) to 1860. Kokenhof was a manor originally belonging to the Swedish Oxenstierna family.
Married to Elizabeta Feodorovna (d. 1855), née Baroness Rosen of Dorpat.

[From Revue Horticole, January 1831, p. 345:] M. de Hartwiss, à Sébastianopol, m'écrit qu'il a trouvé dans ce pays deux prunes inconnues, et dont l'une porte le nom d'impériale jaune hâtive, et l'autre d'impériale alexandrine...
