This is the size cutting that works most often for me. Notice that the "cutting" was "slipped" off of the plant, meaning torn off gently, rather than cut. This same kind of cutting can be removed using secateurs. Notice also that there are enough bud eyes to place 3 under the soil, 3 above the soil.

One of the beautiful things about this rose is the long rather drooping leaves of a slightly olive green color that compliments the rose perfectly. One of my very favorites. Very healthy foliage with no spraying in San Antonio, Texas. June 2010

Wills's Cigarette Cards 1913 Series - No 54 LEONIE LAMESCH. (Polyantha.) A dwarf growing cluster rose of German origin, with small rosette shaped flowers produced freely and continuously from early June until the end of October. Excellent for bedding or for edging borders or beds of stronger growing varieties, and a charming pot rose. Being absolutely hardy, no position is too bleak, and very little pruning is necessary. Introduced in 1900.
