Bred by Gilbert Nabonnand (1828-1903) (France, 1888).
Introduced in Australia by George Brunning - St. Kilda Nurseries in 1897 as 'G. Nabonnand'.

Bloom:

Light pink, light yellow shading. Strong, sweet fragrance. Large, double (17-25 petals), borne mostly solitary bloom form. Blooms in flushes throughout the season. Long buds.

Habit:

Bushy, few or no prickles/thorns, spreading, upright. Dark green, dense foliage.

Height: 6'7" to 9'10" (200 to 300cm). Width: 3' to 7' (90 to 215cm).

Growing:

USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).

Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind).

Often incorrectly sold as "Jean Ducher".
Pierre Guillot states that 'Marquise de Querhoënt' is a probable descendant of 'Mme Damaizin', which would also make 'G. Nabonnand' a descendant. However, Pierre Guillot also states that 'G. Nabonnand' is a descendant of 'Safrano'.- see References.
