Nola Simpson. Final Analysis 1996-97.
'Patio Gem'. (SUNsalm); Schuurman 1992; 'Sexy Rexy' x 'Firefly'; salmon orange; 20 reports on 20 plants; 65cms; 7.5 rating. The reports were all enthusiastic and the ratings high during the early years, but latterly they have become less enchanted as they have grown this patio rose longer. It is generally agreed that it is a good garden rose with average repeat and a good clean salmon orange colour. The foliage is dark green and glossy, the buds are urn shaped and open flat with yellow stamens, the shape is informal. No health problems have been mentioned except for downy mildew in Bay of Plenty. It has not been reported on from a wide area and it appears as though it is a reasonably good patio without being special.

Nola Simpson. Review of Newer Roses for 1995-96 Season. Miniatures/Patios.
'Patio Gem' (SUNsalm); Schuurman. 1992; 'Sexy Rexy' x 'Firefly'; salmon orange; 7 reports on 7 plants; 1-4 years; 65cms; 7.7 rating. A rating obtained by combining two year results, the comments do not praise greatly, so maybe it is not as good as the rating indicates. North Harbour likes the colour and health, but repeat is slow. Bay of Plenty has had dieback this year and Auckland some black spot. Te Awamutu finds it healthy and gives a good garden display.

Nola Simpson. Review of Newer Roses for 1994-95 Season. Miniatures/.Patios.
'Patio Gem' (SUNsalm); Schuurman 1992; 'Sexy Rexy' x 'Firefly'; salmon orange; 3 reports on 3 plants; 1-3 years; 65cms; no rating - too few reports. Less reports this year in spite of good reports last year and a high rating. The 3 reports are all favourable, excellent garden rose, always in flower, healthy, clean rich salmon colour, good repeat, dark bronze green foliage, admired by visitors to garden. Why aren't more growing it I wonder!

Nola Simpson. Review of Newer Roses for 1993-94 Season.
'Patio Gem' (SUNsalm); Schuurman 1992. 'Sexy Rexy' x 'Firefly'; salmon orange; 5 reports on 5 plants; 1-2 years; 50cms; 8.2 rating. All reports sing the praises of this new patio rose. Plants are healthy everywhere, with dark foliage setting off the salmon orange flowers. The buds are urn shaped, yellow centre and stamens when open, informal shape, excellent repeat of flowers, little fade in the sun. Sounds pretty good so far from restricted areas.
