Notes:
Author Pearl S. Buck was born Pearl Comfort Sydenstricker in Hillsboro, West Viriginia, on 26 June 1892. At the ripe old age of three months, she moved with her family to China and spent most of the next forty years of her life there. Buck spoke both English and Chinese. In 1934, she moved to Bucks County, Pennsylvania, where she died in March 1973. Among her books is The Good Earth for which she was awarded a Pulitizer Prize. You can find out more about Pearl S.
