'Pearl S. Buck' rose References
Book (1947) Page(s) 215. Pearl S. Buck (H.T.) has very large, many-petalled, high-centred flowers of pale orange, borne upon large stems. Growth is vigorous and erect and foliage dark green. Kordes 1940....Slightly fragrant....June-September. Hardy.
Book (1941) Page(s) 46. R. Marion Hatton. An American Review of the New Roses ...The best of these appears to be Kordes' Pearl S. Buck, the progeny of Joanna Hill and Etoile d'Or. The plant is quite upright and tall, but with scanty foliage. Early flowers were a sort of pinkish buff, fading quickly, but there were some nice, deep apricot blooms in cooler autumn weather. A cactus form when fully open detracted. The fragrance is outstanding, a rich fruity perfume that alone will insure it a future.
