Origin:
Bred by Francis Meilland (1912-1958) (France, before 1950).
Introduced in France by URS (Universal Rose Selection)-Meilland in 1950 as 'Altesse'.
Introduced in Australia by Hazlewood Bros. Pty. Ltd. in 1952 as 'Altesse'.
Class:
Hybrid Tea.  
Bloom:
Red, carmine-red shading, golden-yellow undertones, fuchsia / magenta reverse.   (Rouge fraise retouché de pourpre carminé, brillant onglet jaune d'or, revers fuschine.).  Moderate fragrance.  35 to 40 petals.  Large, full (26-40 petals), globular bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  Ovoid buds.  
Habit:
Upright.  

Height: 30" to 3' (75 to 90cm).  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b and warmer.  Can be used for beds and borders, cut flower or garden.  Vigorous.  Spring Pruning: Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. In warmer climates, cut back the remaining canes by about one-third. In colder areas, you'll probably find you'll have to prune a little more than that.
