Altesse (Meilland, 1950) has deep crimson petals with much paler colouring on the outside. Perfectly-formed long blooms that are well up to exhibition standard. Very good growth.

Harry H. Hazlewood. The New Roses of 1952. Altesse (Meilland, 1950) is a double, broad petaled rose of clear red which has won high honours in France. So far only a few early blooms have been seen here, but there are all the signs of considerable improvement as the plants develop.
