24 AUG 16
*** Growing near Houston, TX: sub tropical zone 9a. Mild winters, hot, extremely humid summers that last half the year. No spray garden. ***

Purchased from Angel Gardens August 2016

Note: I'm assuming that this is Etoile de Lyon- I see nothing in the plant that tells me that is wrong.

3/5/2018- planted in large rectangle
8/3/2019- I'm really not crazy about this rose. The plant itself is wonderful, nice and bushy, no disease that I've noticed, but the blooms are continuously ugly and brown due to thrips. No, I'm not willing to perform any magic tricks or mix any potions to make each bloom do the right thing. This rose is receiving the Eye of Sauron.

4/18/2021- Same issue with ugly roses, but the plant is such a strong grower. Size is about 4x4. Valentines Day 2021 we had a 5 day freeze event. This rose did not suffer much die back at all.
5/16/2022- Size is pretty large this year, about 6x6.

2/6/2023- My plant was hit hard by our Christmas arctic blast (15F). I didn't protect it because no one protects roses in Houston. It has died down all the way to the ground. :(
1/14/2024- Plant appears to have been winter killed. I guess I learned that lesson. :(
