Hello Admins! ….okay, the abstreuse , forgotten and likely extinct 'Charlotte Elizabeth' by Norman, 1965. The parentage as listed on page 111 of Gault & Synge's "The Dictionary of Roses in Color," 1971, is SHEILA ELIZABETH x QUEEN ELIZABETH. ……….I cannot find a rose named Sheila Elizabeth? I even tried a spelling reversing the i and the e and also using a hyphen!

I can't find it either. But I jotted down irrelevant things on the way through:

1961 Vera Dalton named after his daughter (Paul’s Scarlet Climber x Paul’s Scarlet Climber) x (Mary x Queen Elizabeth)
1962 he named ‘Ann Elizabeth’ after a grandaughter
1963 Ruth Hewitt (unnamed seedling x Queen Elizabeth)
<1965 Looking for ‘Sheila Elizabeth - this parentage is my idle guess!!!! (Sheila x Queen Elizabeth)
1965 ‘Charlotte Elizabeth’ after his wife (Sheila Elizabeth x Queen Elizabeth)

SHEILA: one of them is the parent. So it is either an orange-pink polyantha or a white HP/HT...……..nuts. But yes, one of them. And I was poring over my books tonight and Ruth Hewitt came up and I am trying to figure out how and with what variety because it wasn't with this one!
