I found a label in an old garden once which said ‘Fire Chief’. The rose in situ turned out to be ‘Orange Triumph’ but I have had an interest in ‘Fire Chief’ ever since.

‘Fire Chief’ 1942 has an unknown breeder shown as - Jacobus.
I am wondering if “Jacobus” (also called H. R. Jacobs, New Jersey, in the 1943 reference) , could be the same as Martin R. Jacobus, also from New Jersey.
‘Fire Chief’ had a seed parent of ‘Crimson Glory’ and
Martin R. Jacobus used ‘Crimson Glory in his 1945 ‘New World’, 1946 ‘Inspiration’, 1948 Autumn Bouquet’ and his 1950 ‘Fragrant Beauty’.
On these assumptions, I am changing the breeder of ‘Fire Chief’ from the unknown Jacobus, to Martin R. Jacobus.
