From Wills cigarette cards, Roses – a series of 40 cards. Issued in 1936. No 17. J. G. GLASSFORD (Hybrid Tea) Introduced 1921 Bright scarlet. This Rose has a great advantage over other dark crimson varieties in that it is not affected by weather changes. The blooms are perfectly formed and carried erect on stiff stems. Foliage is free of disease. A good variety for exhibition or garden purposes. If wanted for exhibition, prune the third week in March hard to two eyes, but to four eyes if grown for garden decoration. Awarded a Gold Medal of the National Rose Society.
