'St Paul's Cathedral' Mattcan: Pointed buds opening creamy white, displayed to perfection above the deep green foliage-compact growth to about 1m. Named for the Wgtn Cathedral of St Paul, consecrated in 1852.

'St. Paul's Cathedral' (Mattcan) Breeder: Matthews 2003. Parentage: 'Sexy Rexy' x Sport of 'Aotearoa'. Creamy white. Garden: 6.8. Exhibition: 6.3. Height: Medium - Tall. Health: 6.7. Fragrance: 6.0. Availability: D&S, MAT, TAS. Te Awamutu: Pure white, good exhibition form, would like more blooms. Manawatu: Lovely, good in the garden, healthy, almost thorn free, stems often bend with weight of flowers, very fragrant. Southland: Very fragrant, blooms nice shape, smallish flowers.

p36 Final Analysis for 2011. 'St Paul's Cathedral' (Mattcan) Matthews 2003. Hybrid Tea. Reports: 22, Plants: 24, Garden: 7.4, Exhibition: 6.8, Height: Medium, Health: Very Good, Fragrance: Moderate. A good garden rose with an attractive creamy white exhibition shaped blooms with good fragrance. Plants are healthy with light green foliage and a low number of thorns.

'St. Paul's Cathedral. (Matican). Matthews 2003. 5 Reports: 6 Plants: Garden 7.1, Exhibition 6.9: Medium height: Health 7.2: Fragrance 6.4: Creamy White. Manawatu: Attractive HT with good fragrance, blooms are well shaped although a little on small side, worthwhile rose to grow. Manawatu: Under-rated rose, great in the garden, quite healthy, blooms split, great fragrance. Kapiti: A good show rose, good strong stems, good dec and exhibition. Lovely to have in garden, nice leaf, not too many health problems. Nelson: Slow to get established, but shows promise.

Waikato: First year, this rose has really got going! Good health and perfume, good exhibition type rose. Blooms on the small side, but I am impressed none the less. Manawatu: Very good rose, garden mostly but a little potential for showing, healthy, good doer, blooms often in clusters. Kapiti: Not a bad rose to have in any garden, flowers well.

'St. Paul's Cathedral' (MATican) Matthews 2003. 5 Reports: 5 Plants: Garden 7.6, Exhibition 7.3: Medium height: Health 7.1: Fragrance 6.6: Waikato: good for exhibiting, not quite as healthy as some. Manawatu: all purpose rose like 'Pascali', sleeps between flushes, not a show rose. Stems almost thorn free, small shapely, fragrant, fairly healthy, petals damage in weather, opens quickly but lasts well.

Hayden Foulds. Rose Breeding in New Zealand. ....there have been several other good varieties come on the market, the best of which I consider to be 'St. Paul's Cathedral' (MATTcan), a superb creamy white HT.
