Bred by William Edward Lippiatt (New Zealand, 1883).
Introduced in Australia by C. H. Halstead in 1904 as 'Sir Robert Stout'.
Class:
Hybrid Perpetual.  
Bloom:
Red.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  
Breeder's notes:
Champion rose at the Auckland Horticultural Show in 1897, described as 'Dazzling velvet red, very fine when pruned to the very young wood; the old gives purple blossoms and should be cut away'. ‘ blooms best on young wood’.
