Papa Meilland The "Hall of Fame" winner for 1988. When grown on "Indica Major" stock this is almost as good as 'Mister Lincoln' but for me plants of this cultivar on both Multiflora and Dr. Huey rootstocks suffered a very short life span. At its best it makes a big husky plant with masses of flowers. Perfume is a lovely damask and stems are good. Colour is a good dark red with a fiery overlay, but it fades a little more quickly than 'Mister Lincoln'. I dislike the random pinky-white flecks which occur too frequently. Good form but rather fleeting. At its best it is magnificent as the focal area of a large arrangement.
