Registration name: Sombreuil (LCl, Unknown circa 1940)
Exhibition name: Sombreuil
Cream to white. Moderate fragrance. 60 petals. Large, very full (41+ petals), flat, old-fashioned, rosette bloom form. Blooms in flushes throughout the season.
Height: 8' to 13' (245 to 395cm). Width: up to 5' (up to 150cm).
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default). Drought resistant. shade tolerant.

Sombreuil sold in the US is not the same as Mlle. de Sombreuil.
The ARS determined in 2006 that the name Colonial White which was introduced by Wyant in 1959 should no longer be used. Roses obtained under that name shall be shown as Sombreuil. See REFERENCES for change of classification and breeding date as of November, 2006.
The stated parentage 'New Dawn' x 'Mme Hardy' is questionable as 'Mme Hardy' is sterile.
