Bloom:
Dark violet, white center. Mild, sweet fragrance. 8 to 16 petals. Average diameter 4". Medium to large, semi-double (9-16 petals), in small clusters, open, ruffled, scalloped bloom form. Continuous (perpetual) bloom throughout the season. Medium buds.
Habit:
Medium, semi-glossy, light green foliage. 5 to 7 leaflets.
Growing:
USDA zone 5b and warmer. Can be used for beds and borders, garden or landscape. Benefits from winter protection in colder climates. Spring Pruning: Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. In warmer climates, cut back the remaining canes by about one-third. In colder areas, you'll probably find you'll have to prune a little more than that.
Patents:
Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind).
Notes:
This is an open pollinated seedling of Night Owl. While this is most likely a self pollination, I have the pollen parent listed as unknown as there is no way to determine whether or not this is correct. All open pollinated seedlings of Night Owl appear to have stems/branches that are either completely thornless or almost thornless.
