13 DEC 13
*** Growing near Houston, TX: sub tropical zone 9a. Mild winters, hot, extremely humid summers that last half the year. ***

Rec'd Dec 2013 from RVR.

3/24/2014 - Planted in new garden.

7/3/2014- Hasn't grown an inch.

8/26/14- Gave it a pep talk and it finally started blooming a little. Not too impressed right now, but it's way too early to judge.

9/15/2015- lives in the hottest, driest bed in garden and lived through the summer with no rain or irrigation. Didn't bloom, but I'm not bothered by that.

1/2/2016- has bloomed in flushes since the rains returned in September. No problems

4/2016- growth is fairly open. 3h x 3w
4/2019- size is about 5h x 4w. Not a bushy plant, but I have mine in a mixed bed, so it looks fine. Bright sunset colored blooms in cooler weather. Fruity fragrance.
5/2/2019- had to prune the front so that I could reach and destroy a sapling growing through its branches. Plant looks a little naked right now.
1/14/2024- Has survived temps down to 15 degrees twice without too much dieback. Seems to be fairly cold tolerant for a tea.
