Planted 4 of my seedlings today--2 open-pollinated R. primulas and 2 open-pollinated R. fedschenkoanas. Hopefully the expected rain this weekend will give them a good start.
Planted R. stellata mirifica on Friday, February 26.
Previously planted multiple CA natives recently (Feb 10) arrived from Las Pilitas Nursery, including Antirrhinum multiflorum, Salazaria mexicana (came with surprise hitchhiker in bag--Senna covesii), Zauschneria california Pink (in pot, really tiny), Prosopis pubescens (in pot, really tiny and rootball fell apart), and Psoralea macrostachya.
On Sunday, 1/31/16, in between rain showers, seeded backyard with buffalo grass, white prairie clover, timothy, orchardgrass, and prairie june grass. Today, Feb. 3, lots of birds eating my grass seed!!!
Sowed a bunch of seeds in the front garden today. Many CA natives: Trifolium wildenovii (tomcat clover from Larner Seeds), Clarkia speciosa, Clarkia amoena, Clarkia biloba, Clarkia bottae, Eschscholzia lobbii (frying pans), Linanthus grandiflorus, Nemophila maculata, Limnanthes alba, Layia platyglossa, and Phacelia campanularia (other than the clover, all the native seeds from RSABG). Non-natives: Trifolium incarnatum (crimson clover from Horizon Herbs), Phaseolus vulgaris (Anasazi cave beans from HH), Pisum sativum (mammoth melting snow peas from Horizon Herbs), and Borago officinalis (borage, Burpee brand). Watered all well in as today's promised rain never came!
