NotCondessa collected (Provo, Utah, USA) near Condessa de Sastago. Clearly not the same rose. Grown out from a cutting. Currently in my garden, Zone 7a, Provo; Utah, USA

Looks like I may have been a tad bit hasty in declaring Wildfire and Margaret Merril goners from the winter. The is some growth showing coming from the ground. Wildfire is budded so fingers crossed it's not Dr. Huey. The 2 MM bushes are own root so there's some hope there.

The big Spring bloom is mostly behind me now and there's lots of deadheading to be done nearly every night for at least an hour. It's been very hot for over a week now with no cooler weather in sight. Some of the sprays are so voluminous (Pinkerbelle, Marmalade Skies, Fame) that water from rain (not that there's been too much of that) is bending the canes down to the ground due to the weight of all the blooms. I haven't experienced that in the past very much, certainly not like this year.

April, May and the first half of June were much colder than normal. So of course, there has to be an extended heat wave so that average temps can balance out mathematically. That's what's happening now! Watering is required every other day.
